Volunteer Spotlight: The Horvaths

Amy Parsons finds a volunteer to uplift each month. Do you know someone who deserves recognition? Email Amy at We love our volunteers!

For the July Volunteer Spotlight, we are excited to recognize and thank the Horvath Family for all they have done for us at Trietsch.

Tim, Deb and Emma Rae have been at Trietsch since 2006 when Deb began teaching Sunday school. She was excited to be plugged in to Children Ministries and have their daughter, Emma Rae (13), with her as well. While Tim visited, he wasn't yet a regular "Trietscher" until he had back surgery. He was pleasantly surprised to have Rev. Joe Shafer stop by and visit, and Trisha McWilliams came to pray with him as well. Those acts of kindness made such an impression on him that he decided he HAD to be a part of Trietsch and immediately signed up to serve with the hospitality team.

Now, Tim and Deb have been serving in various hospitality and other positions for the past 10 years. Deb has worked in many different roles in both children and youth ministries, including several trips to Bridgeport and spring break mission trips. Tim has continued to serve regularly as an usher as well as working on the gardening and landscaping around the church with Deb.

The story of the Horvaths becoming connected is a great reminder for all of us to be invitational to those around us. The kindness of that hospital visit inspired Tim to get involved and the family hadn't joined the church until a friend asked them if they've ever considering being a member.

We are so thankful for the incredible work of this sweet family. They always have a smile, a kind word and a hug for all those they meet. Unfortunately, this article is also a "goodbye" as Tim's job is taking the family to the beautiful state of Florida. The family is moving to Ocala, FL as Tim begins a job with Conimar, a home goods manufacturer.

When asked about the family's favorite thing about serving in hospitality positions, Deb had this to say:

"If I could tell people one thing, it would be to realize that their special gifts do not have to be something HUGE. I love to make people feel happy. I have the ability to greet someone, ask how they are and genuinely care – and that is a gift from God! It is just as important for us to recognize and identify those strengths and put them to use for others."

Tim, Deb and Emma Rae – thank you for your many years serving at Trietsch! We will miss you and pray God's blessings on each of you.
