Amy Parsons gives a big shoutout to the media team in this month's Volunteer Spotlight:
For our June Volunteer Spotlight, we had TWO wonderful volunteers that we wanted to recognize! They both are part of our awesome media team in worship.
First, what is media? Media is everything that happens in worship that needs electricity: lights, sound, cameras that project images onto the big screens, and even the great slides that we all follow with song lyrics and prayers.
These two gentlemen are definitely not rookies to the media department and we appreciate all their hard work!
Terry has been serving as a volunteer in the media department for TWENTY FIVE YEARS! He and his wife Janal have raised three kids at Trietsch – Tim, Emeline and Sarah. Sarah Minasian and her husband Steven have the Bennett's grandson, Tristan as well! Terry works for Bank of America as a Software Systems Analyst, but also has a degree in electrical engineering, so the media department loves to have his methodical brain helping us out when things go wrong.
Terry, who enjoys woodworking, fishing and playing with his grandson in his spare time, has run sound for several years, but has been the main "lighting guy" for more years than we can count! He works all three services, virtually every Sunday and you won't meet a nicer, more helpful and kind soul. We are so thankful for his servant's heart in our department.
Roger Anderson has also been serving in the media department for quite a long time. 15 years ago, his son-in-law, Todd Kaster, mentioned that they needed some extra help in media. Roger came in to help on a temporary basis and has been there ever since!
Roger is married to Jan and they have two children – Jeff and Tricia. Tricia and husband Todd Kaster have twin daughters, Leah and Elaine, with whom Granddad Roger loves to spend time! Roger was originally retired when he began helping out with Habitat for Humanity and 6 years ago, decided to come out of retirement to serve as Construction Services Manager for Denton County Habitat . His servant's heart guided him into this job and also inspires him to help in media every other Sunday, serving in ALL THREE services.
Most often, you'll find Roger behind the computer screen that runs the song lyrics, sermon slides and everything else that comes across the big screens in the sanctuary. His calm, low-key manner is perfect for problem solving with technology and keeping things moving along for a smooth presentation for all of our worshippers to see. In his free time, when he's not spending time with the grandgirls, he enjoys visiting wineries and vineyards.
We are thankful for the combined FORTY YEARS of volunteering in our media department from these two men. We’d love for you to stop by sometime after service to say hello and show your appreciation for all their efforts. Terry and Roger, thanks for all you do!
