TEC LEAD TEACHER, Part-Time Salary Exempt (24 hrs/ week)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Documentation of a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education/Child Development from an accredited college; Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with experience in teaching preschool children; Bachelor’s degree with experience in an acceptable preschool setting.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must understand the process of child development.
- Personal and professional references required.
- Must complete necessary forms of employment.
- Must clear a criminal history check, FBI fingerprint, and drug test.
- Must have current certification in CPR, First Aid, rescue breathing, and choking from accredited organization.
- Must complete Ministry Safe Training (or Child Abuse and neglect with approval of Director).
- Must meet basic health requirement of local and regulatory agency. A negative TB tine test must be on file (if applicable by Denton County Health Department).
- Must complete 24 hours of “Pre-service” training before working in the classroom with the children.
- Must complete 24 hours of professional development classes per year from date of hire as outlined in the Staff Handbook.
- Good oral communication spoken English can be easily understood.
- Must be able to relate positively to adults and children and work effectively with another adult in a classroom setting.
- Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of position as outlined in Staff Handbook: including, but not limited to sitting, running, walking, bending, standing, lifting, and cutting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by the policies as set forth in the Staff Handbook, Parent Handbook, Employment Agreement, the TEC Charter and By-Laws, and the TDFPS Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.
- Be supportive of the program and policies of the center.
- Maintain prompt hours that pertain his/her scheduled workdays. The time prior to the children’s arrival shall be utilized to prepare the learning environment. The time after all of the children are dismissed shall be utilized for classroom housekeeping/return of supplies/preparation for future lessons/age level meetings.
- Be conscientious of attendance: notifying Director/Assistant Director according to guidelines in Staff Handbook when a substitute teacher is needed.
- Attend all staff meetings, age level meetings and additional scheduled meetings.
- Maintain a neat, clean appearance and adhere to dress code.
- Shall maintain high standards of professional ethics regarding children, parents, and staff.
- Supervise the teacher’s aide assigned to the class. The teacher and aide will complete a peer review together each semester.
- Counsel with the Director to discuss concerns related to the children, parents, and/or staff.

TEC TEACHER'S AIDE, Part-Time Salary Exempt (24 hrs/ week)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum education – High school diploma
- Good oral: including use of telephone: and written communication skills.
- Personal and professional references required.
- Must meet basic health requirement of local and regulatory agency. Negative TB tine test on file at the center prior to the first day of school for the children.
- Must be able to relate positively to adults and children and work effectively with another adult in a classroom setting.
- Must have current certification in First Aid, rescue breathing, and choking from accredited organization.
- Must attend 24 hours of continuing education training workshops per year from date of hire as outlined in the Staff Handbook.
- Must complete necessary forms of employment: application, I-9 (passport or proof of citizenship/or a combination of two documents from a list which includes: Driver’s License or voter’s registration card and original social security card or birth certificate), W-4, Texas new hire reporting form and emergency medical form.
- Must clear a criminal history check. and fingerprint check.
