Amy Parsons sat down with Dianne McDougal, our Volunteer of the month. Thank you, Dianne, for all you do! You can sign up to serve at tmumc.org/serve.
October's Volunteer Spotlight focuses our appreciation on Dianne McDougal. Dianne has been at Trietsch for over 30 years, first attending when the church was held in an elementary school! Dianne, husband Bret, and kids Stacy and Matthew have loved being a part of Trietsch and participating in many different ministries.
Through the years, Dianne has volunteered in many areas including bulletin preparation, cooking for the youth group and mission trips and much more. Her main area of service, however, is the Good Samaritan Ministry here at Trietsch, which she has led since it's inception over 20 years ago.
Good Samaritan has many different areas of service. Some of the most common are serving lunch or receptions at funerals and memorial services, providing meals or rides for someone in need, and virtually anything that someone going through a challenging time might need. One of the services they provide is during a funeral. Someone simply sits at the home of the family, as that is one of the most common times for thieves to target a home. By sitting in the home, this gives the family peace of mind.
Dianne is gifted at providing that peace of mind. While still maintaining a full time job in the insurance business, Dianne enjoys coming in weekly to help serve where there is a need. When I asked her thoughts on service in God's kingdom, Dianne had this to say:
"There's ALWAYS a need and something to do. I think it's important for people to remember that it doesn't have to be something huge. People seem to sometimes be afraid to help because they can't feel they can do enough, but anything you do is more than they already have and a blessing."
Dianne – thanks from all of us for all you do to provide such peace of mind during challenging times and to serve all of us here at Trietsch.
