Heart Ties
Staff Leader: Diane Presley
Volunteer Leader: Diane Bishop
We are a multi-generational mission group dedicated to spreading God's love through the gift of handmade quilts to individuals in several care facilities around the state of Texas.
The mission was originally the dream of Ellen Snyder; a gifted quilt maker who felt called to share the joy of creating and giving. After Ellen's death in December 1997, this varied group of people voted unanimously to continue - both as a tribute to her great generosity of spirit, and because we also enjoy the spirit of creating and giving and sharing God's love through quilts.
We give quilts to Children's Advocacy Center, Nelson Center for children, Methodist Mission Home, Methodist Children's Home, Dallas Street Ministry, Elizabeth House, Women & Children's Shelter, local nursing homes, Bryan's House, Rainbow Room and Promise House.
For our mission we need people to sew, people to tie, people to sort fabric, people to "design" quilts, DMC thread - any color, sewing thread - any color, cotton or cotton blend fabric (3/4 yard or more in size), tax deductible donations to purchase batting and backing.
Please join us in spreading God's love through the gift of handmade, tied quilts. We meet the first and third Tuesdays from 9am -noon and the second and fourth Thursdays from 7-9pm in Rooms 16/18/3 in the Education building.
Sewing skills are a plus, but not required. We will teach you how you can help us the best.
