Kairos Prison Ministry
Staff Leader: Diane Presley
Lay Leader: Betty Baker
Kairos Prison Ministry addresses the spiritual needs of
incarcerated men, women and children, their families and
those who work in the prison environment. At present, Kairos
serves 35 prisons and jails across the State of Texas.
The next retreat is in April. Kairos encourages the
selection of leader inmates. By participating in Kairos, we
have the opportunity to introduce inmates to Jesus and then
show them the love He has shown us.
We welcome new team members. If you feel called to
this ministry and have been on the Walk to Emmaus, contact
Diane Presley at dianep@tmumc.org.
When the retreat nears, we will also need your help with monetary donations and
homemade cookies. The cookies have to be a specific size, so check back for more details.

In 2009 the Kairos team, with your help, was able to raise over $12,000 to purchase 608 chairs for the Coffield State Penitentiary Unit #22. Three Kairos team members from Trietsch delivered the 608 chairs to the prison chapel recently. The chaplain and group are so excited to have these wonderful new chairs and told the team that it was a true blessing to their ministry at the prison. These chairs will be used to help refurbish the Chapel at Coffield Prison because the pews were falling apart and the chapel was not functional. Another blessing is that the pews will be able to be refurbished for another prison that is in need for their chapel.
The Kairos team will now begin working on replacing the carpet and purchasing collapsible partitions to divide the chapel into 6-8 rooms to better serve the 4,200 prisoners. If you would like to give any amount of donation to help renovate the chapel, contact Steve Griffin at swgriffin3@aol.com or 972-741-1947.
