Christian Community Action

Staff Leader: Diane Presley

Trietsch participates in many Christian Community Action endeavors at different times of the year. Check out details below or click on the logo above to learn more about CCA and their programs. Contact Diane Presley, Pastor of Missions with any questions at dianep@tmumc.org.

  • Kids Eat Free - Sign up in the Connection Center on Sundays or CLICK HERE to register to serve CCA's Kids Eat Free. Each summer day, Trietsch serves lunches throughout the summer to over 120 kids who would normally be fed through the school lunch program. The dates are June 6 - August 19. Contact Andy Kistler at discipulus@tx.rr.com.

  • Back to School Jeans Drive through VBS - This year’s VBS again teaches the kids about missions. The kids bring jeans throughout the week for the CCA Back to School drive and the Cow & Goat go at it again to raise money for Imagine No Malaria. This year we have added the CCA Food Drive at the Friday night celebration.

  • CCA Food Drive during VBS Celebration - VBS Family Fun Night, July 1, 5:30 p.m. Fun, games, food & a very special worship rally! Bring a non-perishable food item for the CCA Food Pantry.

  • Holiday Food Drives - Trietsch collects various food items to help supply the CCA Holiday Food Baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas. More details will be available closer to the event. Donations can be dropped off in the Mission Collection Center.

  • CCA Angel Tree - Trietsch hosts a CCA Angel Tree in December. Gift tags listing suggested gift ideas will be placed on the Angel Tree. Choose a tag, purchase the gift, then return the unwrapped gift and tag to the tree. With these donations, Christian Community Action’s (CCA) is able to stock their Christmas Toy Store and provide parents the opportunity to shop specifically for their children, protecting family dignity and preserving family traditions. Qualified recipients shop with vouchers to purchase toys for their children. Parents will experience the joy of shopping for their child's gifts, wrapping these gifts, and then giving them to their children in the tradition of their family.

  • CCA Food Pantry - Trietsch accepts donations at all times for the CCA Food Pantry. You can drop off your donations at the Mission Collection Center in the CCA containers. We also have many who volunteer in the Pantry. This is a great mission opportunity for small groups and families.

  • CCA Donations - CCA has Resale Stores that they stock with donations from the community. We all are able to shop and get great deals and they are able to use the proceeds to help pay bills for someone who is struggling, or to provide a class to learn a trade and many other programs to help those in need. The money earned goes a long way to "teach a man to fish" instead of just temporarily fixing a situation. Trietsch accepts limited donations. They can be dropped off in the Mission Collection area. For larger donations, please drop off at CCA at 221 Mill Street. You can visit their website at www.ccahelps.org.

Our CCA contact is Peggy Swann, who is also a member of Trietsch. If you ahve any questions about these or any other CCA opportunity, please feel free to contact her at 972-219-4324.

Throughout the year Trietsch volunteers support various programs through Christian Community Action in Lewisville.

CCA Mission: In the spirit of Jesus Christ, Christian Community Action ministers to the poor by providing comprehensive services that alleviate suffering, bring hope and change lives.

When a family is hungry, tired and has no place to go, it is hard for them to help themselves. For more than 35 years, Christian Community Action has been feeding, sheltering, educating and training families in need within 42 communities throughout Collin, Dallas, Denton, Tarrant and Wise counties. In one year, CCA assists more than 12,000 individuals. They distribute more than $1.4 million of food and see more than 4,000 low-income patients in their health center each year. They have more than 1,660 people taking educational and vocational training programs annually. They provide more than 57,000 lunches to kids during the summer and provide 2,900 children with Christmas toys each holiday season. With the support of volunteers, families, churches and local businesses, they truly are making a difference in our community.

Ways to get involved with Trietsch for CCA:

Kids Eat Free

Click on the link above for complete information and to volunteer

For some children in the Greater Lewisville area, the end of the school year could mean a summer without lunch. But thanks to the Kids Eat Free program, almost 1,000 children, ages 3 to 18, receive a healthy, balanced lunch Monday through Friday. Trietsch is a major participant in Christian Community Action’s Kids Eat Free program, feeding over 100 children in the Highland Acres Community every day of the week throughout the summer. The program lasts 11 weeks, which means we will provide almost 6,000 lunches! This is a fantastic  opportunity for families, small groups, Sunday School classes, individuals – anyone who wants to know the joy of being the hands and feet of Christ for children in our own town.

Back to School Program CCA provides each qualifying student with two new outfits, a pair of shoes, backpack and grade specific school supplies prior to the beginning of each school year. Last year 1,640 students benefitted from the program. Trietsch collects school supplies, clothes and shoes to be distributed to the kids in the Back to School store at CCA. Volunteers are also needed in the store.
Christmas Toy Program

Christmas Toy Store ensures that Santa will visit CCA children with the perfect gift. This program allows parents to provide Christmas for their children, despite the hardships they are currently facing, by selecting their children’s gifts from donations provided to CCA's Toy Store. Everything they need, from stocking stuffers to boxes and bows are provided to ensure a memorable holiday. Each year, the store provides new toys to more than 3,000 children. It takes approximately 1,000 volunteers to help collect toys and work at CCA's Christmas Toy Store or mall where Giving Trees are set up with gift suggestions. Trietsch has a CCA Giving Tree with gift tags on the them. Gifts are purchased and returned to Trietsch and used in the Christmas Toy Store. Volunteers are also needed in the store and at the local malls to man giving trees.

Food Pantry Each week, CCA typically provides more than 650 families with more than 40 percent of their food needs. Currently, in these economically trying times, the number of families receiving access to the Food Pantry is approaching 900. These low-income families are provided with vouchers for use at the pantry, which is a fully-stocked grocery store. With CCA-provided food, families are able to reserve their household income for rent, utilities, childcare and healthcare.

Trietsch collects specific food needs at Thanksgiving and Christmas for the Holiday Food Baskets. Donations of food is accepted throughout the year and can be dropped off at CCA or at Trietsch at the Missions Collection Center next to the Ministry Center.
Senior Christmas Senior Christmas provides holiday wishes to elderly adults. Individuals and companies purchase Christmas gifts from a wish list and provide food, drinks and entertainment for the annual senior holiday party.
Donate Items for Resale Store

Items can be donated to CCA for them to sell in their resale store either at CCA or at Trietsch at the Missions Collection Center.

CCA has three retail thrift stores each carrying a variety of clothing, books, furniture, appliances, household items, furniture, toys, home decor and seasonal items.

Sales from these items provide more than $5 million gross revenue annually to the ministry. These revenues are used to help needy families pay rent and utilities and assist the organization in providing healthcare, job training and countless other services.
