Marriage Enrichment

Building Christian Marriages that Last

Staff Leader: Jann Harrell

By God’s design, marriage has the potential for greater joy than any human relationship, but great marriages are not automatic. All relationships require work, and marriage is no exception. But that “work” can be fun, and we want to make your marriage an adventure that you enjoy and that brings glory to God.

What Does the Marriage Enrichment Ministry Do?

Marriage Nurturing Opportunities:

  • Marriage Mentoring - We offer a Marriage Mentoring Program for engaged couples – Six sessions with an older married couple, based on 150-question inventory, designed to explore differences.
  • Marriage Retreats – Attend the Trietsch retreat October 9-10 at Pine Cove or one of several national Christian marriage encounter weekends. Contact Marilyn Hurlbut at hurlbutm@aol.com.
  • Date Nights – Available for couples of all ages. Childcare is provided, but space is limited, so reserve your spot early to 972-539-8547, ext. 299. Activities vary for each event and could just be a couples night out alone. Upcoming Date Nights that are offsite on your own or with friends with childcare beginning at 5 p.m., March 27, June 12 & November 12. For Date Nights at Trietsch with planned activities, April 16 and September 17 at 6 p.m. Childcare is also limited for these nights.
  • Sermon Series – Annual Sermon Series focusing on Marriage. John Allen’s sermon series “He Said, She Said” was February 7 - 21.
  • Vow Renewal Ceremony – Offered every year, this service is an opportunity for married couples to renew their vows. The next one will be in 2011.
  • Small Group Studies – Join a small group study with other couples wanting to strengthen their marriage, and learn more about God’s plan for marriage. Most classes are six- to eight weeks, offered throughout the year, many based on videos of well-known speakers.
    • “Men are Like Waffles, Women are like Spaghetti” study, Wednesdays, January 13 - February 24, 6:30 p.m.
    • “Making Love Last a Lifetime” study from
      February 18 - March 29, 7 p.m.
  • Self-Help Resources - Curriculum recommendations available for self-help resources. Contact Jann Harrell at jannh@tmumc.org to ask for books or other materials on specific issues, including sexual intimacy and marriages in crises.
  • Professional Counseling – Make an appointment with one of the licensed marriage and family counselors in the counseling center at Trietsch. Kim Bonneau at 940-484-6120, Marilyn Eutsler at 972-420-6934, or Brad Watts at 214-526-4525. Fees are on a sliding scale; no one is turned away because of financial need.

Why Has Trietsch Created a Marriage Enrichment Ministry?

  • To support God’s design for life long, faithful marriages. It is the church’s duty to help preserve strong marriages, offering support before and after the wedding.
  • Strong marriages are built; they do not happen magically.
  • To promote lifelong commitments for couples to grow closer and learn more about each other.
  • To encourage the fun and adventurous journey called marriage.

Trietsch aims to be a church where every married couple is growing closer all the time.

Jesus replied, “. . .in the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore, what God has joined together, let man not separate.” Matthew 19:4-6
