2008 VBS A HUGE SUCCESS!

Over 1,100 kids and more than 500 volunteers had a blast at the VBS Power Lab and 6th grade Mission Camp from June 23-27. VBS is one of the most popular ministries of Trietsch and the kids look forward to it each year.
One of the mission focuses of VBS is to collect new jeans for the CCA Back to School store. Our goal was to collect 1,200 pairs of jeans for teens and when we reached our goal, our own Kris Melvin would get SLIMED! We more than met our goal, but surpassed it by collecting around 1,400 pairs of jeans! Kris Melvin looks good in green, don't you think? (pictured at right)

The annual goat vs. cow battle raged on the whole week. The cow won by a wide margin this year, but Heifer International is the real winner, with the kids raising almost $8,000 during VBS to buy working animals for families in Mozambique.

The gift of a dairy goat represents a lasting, meaningful way for you to help a little boy or girl on the other side of the world. A dairy goat can supply a family with up to several quarts of nutritious milk a day - a ton of milk a year. Extra milk can be sold or used to make cheese, butter or yogurt. Families learn to use goat manure to fertilize gardens. And because goats often have two or three kids a year, Heifer partners can lift themselves out of poverty by starting small dairies that earn money for food, health care and education.

A good dairy cow can produce four gallons of milk a day - enough for a family to drink and share with neighbors. Milk protein transforms sick, malnourished children into healthy boys and girls. The sale of surplus milk earns money for school fees, medicine, clothing and home improvements. And because a healthy cow can produce a calf every year, every gift will be passed on and eventually help an entire community move from poverty to self reliance. Now that's a gift worth giving!

The VBS Leadership Team, headed by Suzanne Sutton, did a wonderful job making this event happen! Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. Countless lives were changed this year at VBS!
