Pray for Mozambique

Rev. Clay Horton, Associate Pastor of Serving Ministries, reminds us to stop and say a prayer for our missionaries in Mozambique this week:

Mission Mozambique is an ongoing initiative to support this African community in education, food, and health. Our missionaries from Trietsch have given up their time and money to spend a week in the Mozambique community helping to continue these ongoing areas of support. Each team member pays their own way and they go proudly representing each and every person at Trietsch. They are immensely grateful to all who have served as missionaries in the past, those who have donated time during fundraising events, those who have donated items to the Mozambique auction, and those who have donated money for scholarships or projects.

Please say a prayer for each of these team members as they serve God's purpose with our brothers and sisters in Mozambique. This year's team has five members under the age of 24!  We're so excited to see young adults called to serve this mission…truly giving hope to the longevity of the mission.

Our team consists of:

Marilyn Hurlbut – who started this mission 20 years ago!  Marilyn will be teaching her Leadership Class to our AU scholarship students.

Caitlyn Hurlbut, 16 – Caitlyn is Marilyn’s youngest granddaughter.  She will be teaching English Classes at the Library.

Morgan MacGregor, 22 – Morgan remembers hearing about Mozambique Missions for her entire lifetime at Trietsch and knew she would go one day. Morgan will be sharing her gift of music and learning about child development in Mozambique.  (Thank God we finally have someone who can carry a tune on the team! 😊)

Cindy Gullo – Cindy is going to be teaching a Hospitality Class at the Guest House in order to prepare them to reopen the guest house and hopefully make the guest house a self-sustaining business benefiting the Chicuque Mission.

Mary Audrye Gullo, 24 –  Mary Audrye will be primarily working with clean up at the hospital, center of hope and guest house.  She will also be working with the elderly, studying the cultural differences and opportunities to improve the conditions for the widows home.

Alexis Balboni, 23 - will be teaching at the private elementarty school (One World Academy) which is taught in both Portuguese and English.  They literally teach the morning session in Portuguese and teach the same session in the afternoon to the same children in English.

Audrey Watkins, 23 – This will be Audrey’s 3rd trip to Mozambique.  She will again work in the hospital and will be setting up the first ICU at the Chicuque Rural Hospital…setting up protocol, identifying needed equipment and training of selected nurses.  This will take much more time than 2 week, but she will leave with a solid foundation and continue her work stateside.

Jackie Watkins – as the Chair of Mozambique Missions for over 8 years, I will be leading the team again, meeting with all of our partners in Chicuque and Cambine,  Bishop Nhanala, and check on all of our job creation partners and scholarship students.  For the 4th year I will be teaching a business class and hope to award 4 entrepreneurs seed money to start their business.
