Did you have a happy Thanksgiving? Maybe I should also ask if you had a happy Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday! It can be both a joyful and stressful experience buying gifts for others. There is definitely great joy in giving, but do we take it overboard sometimes? I know I can get caught up in buying unnecessary and unneeded gifts.
That's why I love the tradition that popped up within the past 10 years of #GivingTuesday. After all the rush to buy the gifts that our family and friends want (but may not need), it's a breath of fresh air to take a step back and consider the needs of people around you. I hope you find an organization or cause that inspires you to give your money and time.
If you haven't found a cause to support this Christmas, consider giving to Christian Community Action (CCA).
Christian Community Action plays an important role in providing relief and hope in our community for those in need. This Christmas, there are several ways that you can partner with CCA. First of all, you can purchase an item from the CCA Angel Tree. Gift tags are located in the Connection Center. Please return gifts to the connection center by Monday, December 12.
Not only will we provide presents for children in our community, you can give the gift of your presence as well. This year Christian Community Action will host 6 parties for their clients and families. Volunteers are needed to help sort and pack gifts, decorate party rooms, direct traffic, check in families, take photos, serve food and beverages, lead family activities, assist in Santa visitations, distribute gifts, and clean up after the event. All ages are welcome at this event with parent supervision. We will be helping with the parties on December 9 and 11 from 5pm-9:30pm. Spots are limited, so sign up soon!
If you cannot help on the 9th or 11th, email Caitlin at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for another date (Dec. 10, 16, 17, 18).
