VETERANS MEMORIAL PLAZA

HISTORY AND PURPOSE OF THE VETERANS MEMORIAL PLAZA
The Bible’s vision is that in God’s future there will be no more war and the nations “Shall beat their swords into plow shares and their spears into pruning hooks” Isaiah 2:4
Though the ages have prayed for it, that day has not yet come and until it does we are proud to honor those who defend our nation and freedom in the military.
A group of Trietsch members envisioned a place to honor Veterans from our community, as well as their loved ones who have served. There are numerous monuments for Veterans but not a local place of remembrance for those that have touched the lives of our local citizens.
The purposes of the Veterans Memorial Plaza are:
- A sacred place to pray for peace in the world, that eternal hope for which the brave men and women in the military serve and so nobly sacrifice.
- To recognize and commemorate in a lasting manner the accomplishments and service of the men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States in peace and war.
- To provide a quiet, tranquil, and peaceful place where family members can come to grieve and celebrate the lives of those who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States.
- To provide a place of learning where we can educate our young that freedom is not free, and that brave, courageous, selfless Americans like those who will be honored here have risen to the occasion and served honorably for the peace and security we now enjoy.
- To inspire in the citizens of Flower Mound and surrounding communities patriotism, selflessness, and a willingness to serve.
The Veterans Memorial Plaza will be a lasting tribute to veterans’ achievements and sacrifice on behalf of our grateful communities. A brick campaign allows families, friends and organizations to memorialize their loved ones through a personalized brick in their honor.
Bricks continue to be available for sale and will help fund the ongoing maintenance of the Plaza. There are two main sizes of bricks, 4x8 and 8x8, with or without military logos. The 4x8 is $75 and the 8x8 is $200. You can download the brochure and brick order forms below. For further information, contact info@tmumc.org or call 972-539-8547.
