2007 Silent Auction Raises Over $21,000 for Mozambique
The Annual Mozambique Silent Auction was held May 6 through May 20. More than 350 items were donated to the auction by individuals, Sunday school classes, local business and groups. On May 20, the silent auction came to an end with a successful live auction of some of the larger items, including two vacation packages, an Oscar Best Picture “dinner and a movie” bundle and a special tailgating party including the game tickets.
Thanks to your generosity, the final amount raised for our missions in Mozambique was more than $21,000! That total surpassed our goal and previous years. All proceeds go directly to help our mission efforts in Mozambique, Africa. The decisions are in process now on how to use this year’s funds in Mozambique, but in previous years we were able to fund many worthwhile projects, some of which are income-producing for the community:
- Computer lab, computers and software
- Special needs school
- College scholarships
- Bathroom in the Christian Center, library and church
- Library building, books and the salary for a librarian
- Chicken farm
- Church supplies including a sound system, parking lot, hymnals, and repairs
- Sewing machines
- Copier
- School and teaching supplies
- Audiology supplies
- Hearing impaired classroom
- Hospital supplies including medicines, beds, uniforms and gowns
- Orphanage beds
- Well and a water pump for the well
Our efforts have made a difference in this community. They have income producing activities and the children will grow up with more opportunities available to them. It is amazing what we can do together.
We give special thanks to Anila Dhanam and Linda Doherty who co-chaired this event and made it the huge success it was. They gave countless hours and much dedication to the project.
